Just like any other diet, the Atkins diet too has its own share of misconceptions and heightened sense of expectations. While some of them might be justified and possible but not all of them might hold true. Regarding the Atkin’s diet, the debate started right from the time when the Atkins diet was introduced to the world. People became skeptical if this diet would work and this started the debate between the low carb diets and the high carb diets. People were questioning the claims of the Atkins diet, a low carb diet towards successfully allowing them to lose weight. It therefore became extremely important that scientists came forward and helped clear certain misconceptions which were present in the mind of people regarding this debate.
To start with, the most common misconception regarding the Atkins diet was that these low carb diets would not help bring about the desired weight loss. Well to this it can be said that if it is fast weight loss that you are looking for then there is nothing better than a low carb diet of the likes of the Atkins diet. Not only will it help you lose weight fast but at the same time will allow you to feel full too. But if it is long term weight loss that you wish to achieve then the Atkins diet behaves equally to the other high carb diets and there is not much difference.
The other misconception regarding the Atkins diet is that it always works. Well, no diet plan will give you a guarantee that it will produce the kind of results that you want. It also depends on how your body responds to the diet. Since the Atkins diet plan cannot guarantee a permanent weight loss therefore it cannot be said that it will always work.
With the Atkins diet plan it is also sometimes assumed that it will allow you to keep off weight for ever. Here the rule applies that the faster the diet allows you to lose weight the more difficult will it be to retain the lost weight.
